Public Schools in Hoboken
There are many public schools located throughout Hoboken. They vary in size and services. Currently, the public school system starts with Pre-K3 and goes through 12th grade.
Early Childhood – PreK 3 & PreK 4
The city contracts three different providers, Mile Square, HOPES CAP, Inc, & Hoboken Public, to run the Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 programs. Hoboken currently receives state funding for the Pre-K programs. Children must turn 3 by September 30th of the current school year to enroll and registration begins in March. The Early Childhood Program utilizes the Tools of the Mind Curriculum to provide a high quality preschool program.

The private schools in Hoboken have an application process. Typically, applications are due by the end of December for the enrollment in September the following year. Don’t just apply blindly, you are strongly encouraged to go on tours of the school and/or attend an open house in the fall a year before your child would start at the school.

In addition to the many public and private schools, Hoboken has three charter schools. The charter schools receive public funds yet operate independently of the Hoboken Public Schools under charters granted by the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Education. To apply to these schools, there is a lottery system as space is limited.
