Moving guide
Moving to and from Hoboken
Here’s everything we wish we’d known when we moved to Hoboken.
The Rakela Team’s resources for residents and prospective residents.
Moving in & Out
You will need to reserve on-street parking space for a moving truck by purchasing Temporary “No Parking” signs and/or meter bags from the Parking Utility (located in the basement of City Hall, 94 Washington Street – 201-653-1919) or online. Please note the signs must be purchased a minimum of eight days in advance (for permit parking zones) in person at the HPU customer service window or a minimum of 10 days in advance through HPU Online so that they can be posted by HPU seven days before the TNP signs go into effect.
HPU customer service window Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm and Saturdays, 9:00am-1:00pm. For more information click here.
Utilities – for condos you only need to contact PSE&G and your preferred cable/phone provider. For single and multi-family homes you must also call the sewer & water companies – which bill customers quarterly.
Don’t forget to call the day before your closing or lease start to change the utilities in your name or to close them out if you are selling or at the end of your lease.
