HOLIDAY HACKS FROM THE RAKELA TEAM

RAKELA TEAM

We are always looking for “tricks and tips” during the holiday season to free us up for festive cheer! Here are some of our team’s favorite holiday hacks – we’d love to hear yours.

Elizabeth: My family has been celebrating Christmas day at my parents’ ever since Lucas was born in 2007. We wake up there, and Santa has come there for them every year. It’s great because the elves can quietly send everything there without any snooping! Each child has a different type of gift wrap, so no labels required.

Amber: When I host 30 people, I cater from the local Italian restaurant instead of cooking. I do hot cocoa in a crockpot and make every kid use one cup and write their name with a drink marker (I also use the drink marker for my cup so no one steals my champagne!).

Nicole: My family does not do gift wrap anymore (only if necessary). If it’s a gift that doesn’t require gift wrap, we put presents in gift bags with tissue paper on top so we can reuse and it’s less messy. For gift wrap gifts, we are not allowed to open the next gift until we throw the gift wrap in a garbage bag that is laid out by our presents. We also split gift opening between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so we have two days of excitement!

Kate: In our house, gifts are sent and wrapped at Nana’s secret workshop and delivered right before Christmas in camouflage. We’ve been doing this extremely helpful tradition for many years and call it “Santa Camo”.
