It’s block party season and this week, our team shares why we love our block.
Elizabeth: Growing up in a very remote area of New Jersey in a town with no house numbers, I always said when I got older, I would live somewhere where there was more going on. My high school was 20 minutes away and it was not easy to see people. When I moved to Hoboken I knew I would be here long term. We have moved a few times within town, but I now call Washington Street home. It is so bright and lively and I love that we have restaurants and shops right outside our door. The highlight of my day is running into people on my block. It is a true joy to be on the parade route for so many holidays.
Amber: Living on the Terrace is special. Everyone knows where you are talking about- “oh the little houses by Acme with the cobblestone streets”. Besides being charming, the real jackpot are the families that live here as well as the secret parking spot!
Steve: I love everything about my block. From the tree lined streets to the local shops and restaurants. We are parallel to Hamilton Park and there’s always something fun and exciting happening.
Erin & Mark: We loved our block long before we bought our house. The robust trees lining the block and of course all the beautiful, historic brownstones always caught my eye. When our house came on the market, Elizabeth Rakela (our long time friend and real estate agent!) sent us over the listing and the moment we walked inside, knew we found our Home. Once we moved in, the block became just as cozy as the house and we met neighbors – of all ages – that would become life long friends and a true source of community right on one single block. We could not love our block more and the trees lining the street still make me look up and appreciate how fortunate we are to live on ‘Garden between 10th and 11th!’
Kate: I love the wonderful families we are lucky to call neighbors, our location in town, and our proximity to bwe and Mojo! And, a new addition that brings joy every time I walk by – the little free library. I can’t walk by without checking the collection, and I love seeing people of all ages perusing the free books that you can give or take at anytime. The little free library is a gift that keeps giving to so many!
